I try not to limit myself to one particular mathematical discipline. At present, I am extremely interested in stochastic processes, probability theory, game theory, models for and philosophy of randomness, cryptography, cryptovirology, artificial intelligence, quantum logic and quantum computation, algebraic topology and knot theory, and statistical mechanics. In general, however, I'm easily fascinated by and interested in any issue that can be analyzed and understood through a mathematical perspective.
The lifelong education of the developing human mind is vitally important to anyone with a vested interest in seeing individuals enjoy a happy, flourishing life. I view studying and doing mathematical work as one of the greatest joys available to human beings in this context, and it is my role as a tutor to effectively, enthusiastically communicate the importance and beauty of math to my students as well as to foster their powers of critical and mathematical thinking. It is my professional hope that at the end of each tutoring session my students will have learned above all an abiding respect for reason: a lifelong conviction that they can understand reality and make sense of the world.
However, a great tutor does much more than merely recite the content of his subject. I intend to encourage and motivate each one of my students to perform academically, at a level no less than their very best, yet there is much more to tutoring than just making certain that students answer questions correctly on a test. A tutor must never lose sight of the idea that he is preparing his students to be successful no matter what endeavor they choose to pursue after graduation. Any chance I get to improve the futures of my students will be just as important to them, and to me, as learning mathematical ideas in the classroom.
